Introduction to Ferrosilicon
Ferrosilicon is a new type of alloy, which is silver gray in color and appears in block, spherical, granular, and powder forms.
Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron silicon alloy made by melting coke, scrap steel, quartz (or silica) as raw materials in an electric furnace. The manufacturer provides four grades of ferrosilicon, 75 # 72 # 70 # 65 #. The price of ferrosilicon is favorable, and the processing granularity includes natural blocks, standard blocks, particles, powders, etc. Can be provided according to customer requirements.
Introduction to Ferrosilicon 72
72 Silicon iron is mainly an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Due to the easy combination of silicon and oxygen to form silica, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. The oxidation reaction itself is an exothermic reaction. Can increase the temperature of molten steel. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additive, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, and electrical silicon steel, etc. Meanwhile, ferrosilicon is commonly used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.

Application of ferrosilicon 72
1. Used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easier to melt and smelt, and has excellent casting performance and better impact resistance than steel. Especially ductile iron, its mechanical properties are comparable or close to steel. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron, promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite. Therefore, in the production of ductile iron, silicon iron is an important inoculant (which helps to precipitate graphite) and crystallizer.
2. Used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking industry. In order to obtain steel with qualified chemical composition and ensure its quality, deoxidation must be carried out during the steelmaking stage. Silicon and oxygen have a strong chemical affinity, so ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer for precipitation and diffusion deoxygenation in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve its strength, hardness, and elasticity. Therefore, in the smelting of structural steel (0.4%~1.75% Si), tool steel (0.3%~1.8% Si), spring steel (0.4%~2.8% Si), and silicon steel for transformers (2.81%~4.8% Si), ferrosilicon is also used as an alloying agent.
3. Other uses. Fine ground or atomized silicon iron powder can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry. Can be used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High silicon ferrosilicon is used in the chemical industry to manufacture products such as silicone.
Among these uses, the steelmaking, casting, and ferroalloy industries are users of ferrosilicon. They consume approximately 90% of the silicon iron in total. Among various grades of ferrosilicon, 75% ferrosilicon is currently widely used. In the steelmaking industry, 75% of 3-5 kilograms of silicon iron are consumed for every ton of steel produced.
